Pte. W. Milsted (Nettlestead),

Machine Gunner .

WOUNDED IN ACTION.

Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Milsted, Glenleigh, Nettle­stead, Wateringbury, have been officially informed that their son, Pte. W. Milsted, was wounded on May 3rd. A shell burst over him and a shrapnel bullet passed through his fore-arm. He managed to crawl in to a shell hole,and was compelled, to stay there for about three hours, as the shells were bursting all round him. On seeing his battalion was

forced to retire, he made an attempt to reach the dressing station, and was shot in the head

by a sniper. Pte. Milsted joined the West Kent Yeomanry on February 5th, 1916; at the age of 19, and proceeded to France on Decem­ber 5th. He was then transferred to the Machine Gun Section, attached, to the Royal West Kent Regiment, and saw most of the recent severe fighting. He is now in hospital in Liverpool, progressing, favourably .
