EASTER   VESTRY.

At the Easter Vestry held on April 22nd (present, the Vicar in the chair, Canon Stevens, Mrs. Livett, Rev. F. M. Richards, Messrs. W. W. Blest, A. Lambert, T. Brocklebank and the Churchwardens Dr. Southwell Sander and Mr. R. French) the annual accounts, as audited, were presented and ordered to be printed in the Magazine. The retiring Churchwardens and Sidesmen (Mr. Longley excepted on account of absence from the parish) were re-appointed for the ensuing year, and the following were added to the list of Sidesman: Messrs. G. Chambers, S. Hadlow, Geo. Head, A. B. Baker, V. Baker, and Whiffen.

Churchwarden French called attention to the deficit of £15 12s. 2d. in the accounts, and explained that at Midsummer the Churchwardens would have to make further payments for Insurance (£12) and Salaries (£12), while up to that time they estimated they would receive about £12 from the usual Church collections. It was agreed that an appeal for a total sum of £30 should be made, and a specal collection announced for the last Sunday in May.

At the request of the Churchwardens the Vicar explained briefly the financial scheme proposed by the Archbishops' Committee on Church Finance and already set going in most of the dioceses.  After some discussion, it was proposed by Mr. T. Brocklebank and seconded by Canon Bingham Stevens : " That the Vicar be hereby requested to summon a meeting to  consider and provide for carrying out in this parish the new scheme of Church finance."   The Vicar, as soon as he feels able himself to grapple with his big subject, will take some opportunity of calling  general attention to this important matter and will summon the meeting as desired.
