Extract from Maidstone Telegraph 28th August 1869 reporting on Malling Petty Sessions of August 23rd.

INDIGNATION UNDER DRINK.

John Boorman pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on the 8th and 9th of August at Wateringbury. Defendant pleaded guilty and said he was slightly inebriated, that he never created any disturbance with any one in Wateringbury, only when he saw a Mr Beadle against whom he alleged some wrong dealing, and that aroused his temper and indignation. He made use of some not very complimentary epithets towards Mr Beadle. Fined 10s and costs. Allowed a fortnight to pay it in.
