Wateringbury Parish magazine records in August 1914 the following excursion by the choir on the day after the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand ar Sarajevo.

ANNUAL CHOIR EXCURSION.

On Monday, June 29th the members of the Parish Church Choir, accompanied by Rev. F. M Richard and Mr. Edgar A. Smith, spent a very pleasant day together. Leaving Wateringbury by train, the party journeyed to Maidstone, where they were met by a motor bus which took them to Rochester. Here a short stay was made before going aboard the steamboat "City of Rochester" for Southend. The weather was glorious and the water trip most enjoyable. Luncheon and tea were provided at Garon's Restaurant, and gave entire satisfaction.

On the arrival at Chatham, at 7 o'clock in the evening, the junior members and most of the seniors, spent an hour at the Theatre Royal, looking at cinematagraph pictures. The journey from Chatham to Wateringbury was made by motor bus. Mr. Smith would like to thank all those who contributed to the Excursion Fund.— Communicated.
