Extract from Whitstable and Herne Bay Herald of 15 July 1876:

WATERINGBURY, KENT. VALUABLE CONTENTS OF THE MANSION. ALTERATION OF DAYS OF SALE: Messrs. HARRIS, SWEETING, and Co, BEG to announce that in consequence of the delay in the arrangements for the Sale occasioned by the Injunction which was today dissolved by her Majesty's Court of Appeal, the SALE is necessarily POSTPONED until MONDAY, the 17th inst., and FOLLOWING DAYS, instead of the 10th inst. previously announced.

UNRESERVED SALE OF VALUABLE HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE, WORCESTER, CHELSEA. DERBY. ORIENTAL CHINA. OIL PAINTINGS, BOOKS, PLATE, CHINA, GLASS, LINEN, WINES, HORSES, CARRIAGES, CATTLE, PLANTS, etc.

Messrs. HARRIS, SWEETING, and Co. WILL SELL BY AUCTION, On the premises, WATERINGBURY PLACE, WATERINGBURY, on MONDAY. JULY 17th, and FOLLOWING DAYS, commencing at Twelve o'clock each day, the valuable CONTENTS of the MANSION, Comprising, the principal reception rooms, three richly-carved ebony settees, chimney and pier glasses andmirrors, three fine ebony cabinets inlaid with ivory and tortoiseshell, two valuable Japanese cabinets, costly Japanese screen, 6ft. 6in. Amboyna enclosed several Marqueterie, occasional centre and other tables and cabinets, richly-carved and gilt console table with fine marble, settees, conches, and chairs in walnut wood, gilt, and other frames, Spanish mahogany Chippendale chairs and sideboard, fine carved oak sideboard, a noble set of dining tables, easy chairs, Spanish mahogany and carved oak bookcases, writing tables, two cottage pianofortes, rosewood chiffonier, three mahogany escretoires,a valuable centre table with top of various choice marbles, magnificent marble tazza on pedestal, a handsome jewel casket, finely sculptured marble boats, Turkey and Brussels carpets and curtains, valuable LouisSeize and other clocks, expensive bronzes and other ornamental items, choice collection of Worcester Chelsea, Derby, and Oriental china, full sized billiard table, valuable library of books, containing many rare and costly works; appointments of 14 principal and 8 secondary bedchambers, including several Spanish mahogany Chippendale and winged wardrobes, chests drawers, wash tables, carved 4 post bedstands and hangings,capital bedding, a richly carved and antique oak wardrobe, fine inlaid ditto, cheval glasses, carved oak chests, etc. An important collection of oil paintings and watercolours, chiefly by the old masters : about 500 pieces [?] of plate, large assortment of linen[?], richly cut glass, China, and the usual requisites of the domestic offices.

A small cellar of wines, 3 capital carriage horses, pony, Brougham, waggonette, dog cart, and harness, 3 cows and calves, large collection of valuable plants, garden implements, fire engine, etc, etc.

May be viewed privately on Thursday, July 13th, by cards onlyto be obtained of the Auctioneeers, and publicly Two Days prior to Sale, and Catalogues had (price 1s each) at the Star Hotel, Maidstone; on the premises; of Messrs Rooks, Kennick and Co.,Solicitors 16, King Street, E.C., and of the Auctioneers, 6, King Street, Cheapside, London, E.C.

The reference to the injunction taken out and raised is interesting as well as the fact that it is not specified on whose order the auction is to take place.
