Rxtract from Maidstone Telegraph 30th April 1864

WATERINGBURY.—

On Monday evening a lecture on " Columbus and his times " was delivered in the National School-room by the Rev. R. H. Baynes, of Holy Trinity church, Maidstone, to a crowded audience, who entirely appreciated the manly energy, talent, and, above all, appropriate and Christian lessons drawn from the subject by the lecturer. The Rev. Henry Stevens, vicar, was in the chair, and introduced the lecturer to his rather large family; and Wm. Brown, Esq., moved, and Mr. E. Goodwin seconded, a vote of thanks to him for his able, interesting, and instructive lecture.
