GOOD PRICES FOR CHERRIES.

The first sale of soft fruit in Mid Kent this, season was held at the King’s Head Hotel, Wateringbury on Saturday afternoon, when Messrs. Langridge and Freeman offered crops, mostly cherries, in the parishes, of Addington, Borough Green, East Malling, East Peckham, Hadlow, Nettlestead, Offham, Snodland, Wateringbury, West Farleigh and Yalding. There was a large company of buyers, and the sale was a most satisfactory one, bidding for the majority of the lots being very keen. The highest price obtained for an individual lot was £260, which was given by Mr. Macey for nine acres of cherries in Lower Redhill Or­chard, Wateringbury, belonging to Mr. A. Leney. Two other lots from the same grower, being 14 acres and 13 acres respectively, were purchased by Mr. R. Waters, the former for £165 and the latter for £145. Other transactions were as follows (the crops in all cases being cherries): 10 acres at East Malling, for Mr. George Phillips, £145, Mr. Waters; 7 acres, ditto,for Messrs. R. Mercer and Son, £35, Mr. Sampson; 8 acres at Wateringbury, for Messrs. W. and F. Blest, £35, Mr. Sampson; 6 acres, ditto, for Mr. R. H. Fremlin, £80, Mr. Sudds; 71 acres at Nettlestead, for Mr. J. Coveney, £53, Mr. Coulter; 7 acres at Yald­ing, for Mr. A. S. W hite £15, Mr. Avard; 4 acres, ditto. £16, Mr. Worsted; 3 acres, ditto, £28, Mr. F. Honey; 51 acres at Yalding, for Mr. R. Norton,£107, Mr. Bowles; 4 acres at Yalding, for Messrs. Allen Bros., £16. Mr. Dowdy; 4 acres at Yalding, for Messrs. H. T. Wickham and Co., £27, Mr. C. Honey; 5 acres at Golden Green, for Mr. J. Taylor, £40, Mrs. Usher; 7 acres, ditto, £66. Mr. Fuller;10 acres at Snodland, for Mr. W. L. H. Roberts, £6, Mr. Hook.
