Extract from Parish magazine of November 1911

THE YOUNG MEN'S GUILD seems to be the name to be given to the meeting.which was inaugurated last year at the Thatched Cottage Stable Room, and which, when it outgrew that room, migrated to the Church Rooms, assembling once a week, on Wednesdays. The " young men " organised debates on such subjects as Competitive Sport, Conscription, Emigration and Alien Immigration—called by simpler titles— and lantern lectures, and played games. They think it well worth while to go on with it, and the meeting this year will be held on Wednesday, the 22nd, at 7.30 p.m., when a committee of the members will be appointed, and plans for the season discussed. Apart from such business this first meeting will be an open meeting. There will be games. Anybody may come to see what it is like.
