Grant made to Wateringbury Church (1885)

Church Building Society.— The Incorporated Society for Promoting the Enlargement, Building, and Repairing of Churches and Chapels held their usual monthly meeting yesterday at the society's house. No. 7, Whitehall — Archdeacon Harrison in the chair. There were also present Canons Erskine Clarke, C. A. Jones, C. F. Norman, and T. W. Perry, Lieutenant-Colonel the Hon. G. H. W. Windsor Clive, M.P., Mr. J. G. Talbot, M.P., Major C. E. Watson, Mr. John Boudie, Mr. J. F. France, Mr. J. Hilton, Mr. F. H. Rooke, and the Rev. R. Milburn Blakiston (secretary). Grants of money were made ..........................towards enlarging or otherwise improving the accommodation in the churches at Tytherington, Gloucester, £40; Wateringbury, Kent, £30 ; St. Colan, Cornwall, £20 Hirwain, Glamorgan, £20 ; Llanrwst, Denbigh, £50 and Rye, Sussex, £50.

The church had been closed for several months for a series of works including the building of the north aisle, renovating the chancel, a new heating system and new stained glass costing £2,118 in total so a grant of £30 was a small contribution.
