The following extract from the Kent and Sussex Courier dated 12 April 1878 was kindly drawn to my attention by Trisha Robynns:

WATERINGBURY

SUDDEN DEATH OF A SCHOOL MISTRESS - A very sad event happened in this village on Sunday afternoon. The infant school mistress, Miss Pitt, was seized with a fit about half-past four. Dr.J.W. Fry was called from church and rendered medical aid, but within half-an-hour of his arrival she expired. She attended the morning service at Teston Church, when she was apparently in her usual health. Her relatives reside at Wisbeach, Cambridgeshire.
