In the Church vestry a scrap book is held with newspaper cuttings marked "in Memory of Edgar Clarke-Smith". Some cuttings have a date handwritten beside them. Many are probably from the South Eastern Gazette. The following is marked as from 4.3.19

WHIST DRIVE

A most successful whist drive was held on Wednesday at the Scouts Hall and in aid of the Troop Funds. About 80 persons were present altogether and 19 tables were in use. There were good prizes, given by friends of the Scout movement. The first ladies' prize was won by Mrs. Ratcliffe, and the 2nd by Miss E. Wood, the 1st gentlemen's prize going to Mr. F. Court and the 2nd to Mr. H. Milsted. The sealed number prize was won by Miss E. Wilcox, who also took the ladies' booby prize, Mr. E. Hollands taking the one for gentlemen. The satisfactory sum of £5 was realised for the Scouts' funds.
