Extract from Parish magazine Aug 1883:

WATERINGBURY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The Annual Flower Show was held, by the kind permission of Mr. Stockdale, at Wateringbury Place, on July 12th. The Exhibits were fewer in number than in the last few years; but this was probably owing to the lateness of the season and the earlier date of the Show; the quality of the Flowers, &c., was, however, quite up to the average. The prizes were delivered to the successful competitors by Mrs. Stockdale, to whom, as well as to Mr. Stockdale, a hearty vote of thanks was given, on the proposal of Mr. H. White. This latter gentleman was also cordially thanked far the great interest which he takes in all matters connected with the society.

The Wateringbury, Nettlestead, and Teston Cottagers' Society intend holding an Autumn Show during the month of October.
