An entry of interest is recorded on 7 May 1822 in the Farming Day Book of Thomas Porter of Hadlow, "Sent 34 sheep to Tonbridge Market. Sold 27, 20 sold to Captain Adamson, Wateringbury, to go to Bombay and China." Thomas was a a working farmer who, on occasion, helped with sowing crops or driving animals to market. His book contains a daily detailed record of the work done on three farms, Mill Farm, Ashes and Brigdens. It is held at Kent archives reference U2093. I have not benn able to identify Captain Adamson
