Alderman H.F. Whyman, J.P., C.C.

We regret to announce the retirement, in the near future of Alderman H.F. Whyman J.P., C.C. from the staff of Fredk Leney & Sons Ltd, of Wateringbury, a Whitbread Associate Company.

Forty four years ago Mr. Whyman entered the service of the firm and began work at Wateringbury; in 1895 he was appointed Manager of the Chatham area and he has held that position ever since. It is in this neighbourhood that by his persistent energy he laid the foundation of a career which reflects credit not only upon him but also upon the varied forms of public work to which he has set his hand.

The record of Mr. Whyman's service for Leneys is remarkable and one of which he is justly proud. In public service he is no less distinguished. He has been Mayor of Chatham no less than six times. He is a member of the Kent County Council and one of the best Freemasons in the Home Counties.

Recently the Masonic Record published an article which gave an account of the many high offices Mr. Whyman has filled. Those of our readers who are associated with the craft will realise what an honour this is.

Although he will taking a less active part in the business, his experienced advice and assistance will still be at hand. We wish Mr. Whyman a long and happy life in his retirement . His energy will continue to characterise whatever he does, and many public bodies and organisations will not miss this opportunity of asking Mr. Whyman for further service, which he will now, as he has in the past, render ungrudgingly.
