Ellis Island in New York harbour was the place emigrants to the US going through New York were "processed" from 1892. A search of the records through www.stevemorse.org only reveals one person with a Wateringbury origin, Agnes Jane Wooley who arrived 19th February 1906 on the ship Umbria sailing from Liverpool . She was 30 years old and single. That only one name is revealed does not mean that there were no other emigrants from Wateringbury as the home location may have been recorded as simply Kent or Maidstone, or completely misspelt.
