CONCERT AT WATERINGBURY.

The Wateringbury Choral Society, assisted by a few friends, gave a very successful concert on Wednesday evening, the room being so full that people were turned away from the doors. After paying necessary expenses, £5 will be available for the Red Cross funds.

Amongst the soloists, Miss Christmas, who was in splendid voice, and Corpl. J. Alec Henderson (W.K.I.Y.), who gave a fine rendering of patriotic songs, such as Kennery Russell’s “Blue Dragoons,” were the favourites. Mr S. B. Wills (Harrietsham) was also well received for “Up from Somerset” and "TheTrumpeter.” Others who assisted by singing were Miss Hambley, Miss E. Martin, and Messrs. A. E. Relf and Edgar A. Smith (the conductor of the Society). Mr. J. Neame, an old favourite, also sang twice. Miss D. Livett contributed a recitation. The Choral Society also gave renderings of several patriotic part songs, and the National Anthems of the Allies. The Wateringbury Troop of B.P. Boy Scouts also assisted in several songs, Scout P. Ashbee sounding the “Last Post" in memory of the fallen, and the whole troop, with the assistance of the Society and audience bringing the programme to a bright finish with a hearty rendering of “It's a long way to Tipperary.”
