POOR RATE SUMMONSES.

John Beadle was summoned for non-payment of two poors' rates to the amount of £1 2s. 6d. each, due to the overseers of Wateringbury. The Overseer of the parish deposed that the rates had been demanded of Mr Beadle, but he refused to pay as he was overrated. He occupied a house and garden at the gross rental of £25 and rateable £22 10s. Defendant had always paid this amount and had never appealed. The magistrates told Mr Beadle that he must pay the rate but if he was dissatisfied with his rating he must appeal to the assessment committee.
