Rochester Bridge (early 11th century)

Wateringbury, along with many other places in West Kent, is listed in the Textus Roffensis collection of documents as having an obligation to maintain Rochester Bridge, specifically the fifth supporting pier. Rochester Bridge dates from early Roman times, the first century A.D. Wateringbury's obligation is known to have continued into the Middle Ages .
