Accident at Wateringbury Place (1853)

Extract from West Kent Guardian dated 26th February 1853:

WATERINGBURY A shocking accident occurred here on the 14th inst. to a poor man of the name of W. Holder, who was getting the snow from off the mansion of S. L. L. Lucas, Esq., and by some means became over balanced and fell from a height of above twenty feet, whereby in the fall he broke his thigh, and otherwise injured himself. Mr. Gould, surgeon, was prompt in attendance, and rendered all the assistance in his power, but the poor sufferer is in a very precarious state, and to add to his trouble he has a wife and five children to support
