The following is an extract from the Parish magazine of July 1910:

WATERINGBURY CRICKET CLUB.—We hoped to have said something about the Cricket Club in an earlier number of the Magazine, but there has been no space available. It is not too late to refer to the services which that keen lover of cricket, Mr. Amos Baker, has rendered as Honorary Secretary to the Club for some years. To the regret of the members he felt compelled to resign the position at the last Annual Meeting, held in March. His successor, is Mr. H. R. French, who is also Captain of the Saturday teams, while Mr. Mossy Baker is captain of the Wednesday teams.

Last year the Club won 14 matches out of 19, only one being drawn. Mr. Mark Tapply1 won the President's bat with an average of 20.58, Mr. Pamphilon being runner up with 16.5. The Club's ball was won by Charley Acott, who took 72 wickets at an average cost of 4.11 runs ; C. French coming next with 44 at 4.86.

Soon after the begining of the season the Club lost the services of Mr. Mark Tapply, by his leaving the Village to take up duties in London: after his last match, the President, on behalf of some of the members, presented him with a pipe as a little souvenir, and expressed a hope that he would be able occasionally to play for the Club.

On the occasion of the Teston match, played in the Park on the 11th ult., Mrs. Livett gave tea to the players and to members of the Club and their friends, numbering altogether from 70 to 80 people. Mr. Fremlin kindly lent a large rick cover for use as a tea-tent, and the ground, for the use of which the Club is indebted to an arrangement kindly made by Mr. T. Brocklebank with his tenant Mr. Chambers, presented a pretty appearance. The Club would be grateful if other residents would from time to time follow Mrs. Livett's hospitable example.

The following are the remaining home matches: July 9th (Saturday), Church Institute; 13th (Wednesday), Church Institute; 25th (W.), Malling Athletic; 23rd (S.), Tovil; August, 13th (S ), Chatham Dockyard; 20th (S.), Royal Engineers; 27th (S.) Church Insitute.

The Annual Dinner was reported a few months later (January 1911).

THE CRICKET CLUB.—The Annual General Meeting was held at the King's Head Hotel on Wednesday evening, December 21st, the chair being taken by Mr. Brocklebank2. The Secretary gave a very good report of the play of the club for the past season, and said that in spite of increased expenditure they had a balance in hand of 12s. 10d. The Chairman announced his intention of giving the Club £10 towards the cost of a permanent fence which they are about to erect. The President's prize, a bat, was presented to Mr. H. R. French, and the club's bowling prize to Mr. F. Court. Much regret was felt at the resignation of Mr. E. A. Smith3 (Treasurer) through illness ; at the request of the meeting Dr. Sander kindly consented to fill the vacant office. Mr. H. R. French having warmly thanked Mr. Brocklebank for his kindness, the meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman, Vice-President, Honorary Subscribers, Secretary and Committee.—{Communicated by Hon. Secretary}.
