West Kent Guardian - Saturday 24 September 1836

Wateringbury Dahlia Show—At the dahlia show at the North Pole, Wateringbury, on Friday last, there was a grand display of blooms. The prizes were adjudged as follows :—

1. Cooper East Mailing;

2. Mr. Lockyer, Mereworth ;

3. Mr.Syred, East Malling ;

4. Mr. Newman, Wateringbury;

5. Mr. Wilson. Leybourne.

6. Mr. Mercer, Hunton ;

7. Mr. Broad, Malling;

8. Mr. Fry, Barming;

9. Mr Barton.

Cottagers' Prizes—

1. Mr. Lowles, Wateringbury;

2. J. W. Bates,Teston;

3. R.Chalkin.

The Judges were— Messrs. Newman, Terry, and Featherstone. There was a numerous assemblage of florists and amateurs, the whole passed off to the gratification of all present, and £5. 8s. was subscribed for another year.
