In the Church vestry is held a scrap book with newspaper cuttings marked "in Memory of Edgar Clarke-Smith". Some cuttings have a date handwritten beside them. Many are probably from the South Eastern Gazette. The following is marked as from 26.2.35.

OLD BOYS' SOCIETY

The 32nd annual general meeting of this Society was held at the Scouts' Hall on Feb.15th. Mr. E. A. Clarke Smith (President) was in the chair , and reported that the society had had a very successful year. The Hon Treasurer (Mr. A. E. Relf) presented a statement of accounts showing a balance in hand of £3 2s. 7d. Although Mr. Clarke Smith offered to retire in favour of his successor in the headmastership of Wateringbury boys School, the meeting unanimously requested him to continue as President, whilst Mr. A. Aldridge (the new Master) was chosen as Vice President in place of Mr. H. Pickett, who expressed a desire to retire after 30 years in office. Mr. Pickett received a hearty vote of thanks for his services. Mr. A.E. Relf was re-elected Hon. Treasurer, and the Committee was re-elected with the exception of two members who have left the village and therefore find it difficult to attend Committee meetings. The two new members elected were Messrs. R. Taylor and A. Huntley. After some discussion it was decided that the W.O.B.S. should hold a whist drive on March 5th to raise money for the purpose of renovating the names on the School War Memorial.
