English Regatta

Trophy Of 1872

Dug Up On Farm

INNISFAIL, Wednesday

While chipping was being carried out on Mr. C. Steve's farm at Sundown, a silver cup bearing the words 'Wateringbury regatta,

1872, canoe race' was uneathered.

The farm, which has passed through several ownerships, has been under cultivation for many years, and the cup showed evidence

of having been struck many times. Mr. Steve expressed the opinion that the cup was , deposited there by silt in the flood of 1913, which

covered the farm, or that it was taken there at the time the farm was the site of a big camp of

aborigines.

Wateringbury is in Kent, England.
