Long service recognised (1865)

At the 35th anniversary of the Agricultural association it was reported by the Maidstone Telegraph on 11th November 1865:

Male servants, for length of servitude.—lst prize to James Swan, with Mr. J. B. Jude, Wateringbury, 55 years.

A James Swan, an agricultural labourer then aged 54 and unmarried, was recorded in the 1851 census living as a lodger in Pizen Well Street
