In the Church vestry a scrap book is held with newspaper cuttings marked "in Memory of Edgar Clarke-Smith". Some cuttings have a date handwritten beside them. Many are probably from the South Eastern Gazette. The following is marked as from 23.12.19:

WATERINGBURY

PEACE DINNER

Wateringbury and Nettlestead concluded their Peace Celebrations with a dinner to all men from the two parishes who served in H.M. Forces during the war. No less than 186 sat down to a capital dinner, the catering for which was admirably carried through by Mr. and Mrs. Milstead (Nettlestead) , with the assistance of many willing helpers. Dr. Southwell Sanders (Chairman of the Committee) presided with Canon Livett as vice-chairman, and others present included the Rev. G.A.S. Adams (Nettlestead), Majors P. Hanbury, P. Jude and J. Budden, Lieut.-Commander H.T. Heale, R.N. and Captains Ralph and Geoffrey Spickerneli. There were only three toasts honoured, namely "The King" (from the chair).

Cutting appears to be incomplete.
