Meeting of January 30 1912

The first business was the speed limit of motor cars. After discussion

Mr. Tapply pro Mr. Jude sec. that a 10 mile limit be enforced from the following places- The Top of Lime Tree Hill. The Schools, Orpines and Near the Station. The clerk be instructed to write to the Chairman of the Malling District Council.

"To the Chairman of the Malling District Council

February 2nd 1912

Sir, The parish Council of Wateringbury has this day passed a resolution that Motor Traffic should in passing through the Village be limited to a speed of ten miles an hour. The main road has several dangerous curves and is joined by the side roads at right angles. This speed limit would lessen the danger of serious accidents and the annoyance of splash and dust. We hope that your council will bring this resolution before the County Authority at your earliest convenience. "[Malling District council resolved to support ].

On 4th March County Council wrote to say Messrs A. J. Waring and R.G. Locke will be at Wateringbury on the 28th Inst. At about 3.30 p.m. to inspect the roads when they will be prepared to receive evidence in support of your Council’s application . Will you kindly make arrangements accordingly.

The Chairman reported the Roads Committee had visited the Parish and they could not sanction a speed limit but advised that extra danger signals be put up.
