RT raised question of appointing Mark Tapply as brewer.

Decided to increase Co’s subscription to West Kent General Hospital from 4 to 10 guineas

Decided to obtain particulars of steam lorry from Clayton & Shuttleworth and Steven Tilling Ltd.

Capt. Tapply’s application for brewership held up protem

Decided to close brewery at 5pm on weekdays & noon on Saturday & to make an increase of about 3s. per week in wages. Incidentally this agrees with the attitude adopted by Messrs. Jude Hanbury Co,

Decided to grant W.H. Downs £25 expenses incurred during sickness in his household.

RT reported on attendance at Kent Brewers Union re increased duties on Beer and Spirits.

Mr. Goodhew attended & offered the crop of cherries on trees for £1,500 but he declined so to be included in sale by Messrs Langridge.

RT to negotiate sale of Anchor Hotel, Horsham for £10,000.

White Hart, Brasted: RT to try to secure a better offer than £3,000 offer received.

Farm Bailiff’s wages of 41s. per week plus house, coal & gas not to be varied at present but to consider it in the bonus.

Audit fee agreed at 10 guineas plus expenses.

Mr. Leonard Leney’s application fo position of Farm manager: there having been no suggestion of Manager of Farm, Sec instructed to advise him.

Brewership: proposed by HG seconded by EL that steps be taken to secure services of a competent Brewer who would be capable of becoming General Manager on retirement of RT.

Election of Mrs. Budden as director: felt it was unnecessary to have a further Ordinary Shareholder on Board.

Sale of cherries on trees raised £1,870.

Housing of Working Classes: Sale of frontage at Hoyfield discussed and decided to offer at 24s. per foot frontage.

Anchor Hotel, Horsham decided to offer for £10,000 by auction.

White Hart Brasted: tenant had accepted co’s offer of £3, 250.

£5,000 to be invested in Victory Funding Loan.

Chatham Offices and stores: notice to quit received. To purchase 2 further steam engines with view to delivering direct and closing stores.

Cable to be sent to Dr. Ronald Leney advising that Orpines and farm should be sold.

Decided to subscribe 5 guineas to Nettlestead war memorial.

Mr. D. Garner to be appt Brewer on £400 p.a. payable monthly as monthly servant with 6 months trial.

Land for Cottages, Bow Road: agreement with District Valuer at 21s. 6d. per foot .

Sentinel Steam wagon: RT reported agreement to purchase 2nd hand lorry for £1,000 with option to resell to owner for £900 on delivery of “Garrett” lorry.

RT reported purchase of £5,000 5% National war Bonds 1922.

Increase of 4% in strength of beers. Agreement with Kent Brewers to add 4s. per barrel.

Suggested selling price for Orpines was £20,000 but given ? of possession matter deferred.

Letter to Dr. R.J. B. Leney in Bombay recognising his right to be a director as he had requested but suggesting should be left in abeyance until he could attend board meetings.
