Oast fire (1759)

Extract from Sussex Advertiser - Monday 01 October 1759

Last Saturday Fortnight, in the Evening between Five and Six of the Clock, at a little Village called Pissing1, in the Parish Wateringbury, about five Miles from Maidstone in Kent, a sudden Fire broke out in an oast house belonging to a Publick house occaisIoned by a Boy's putting a Fire into the Oast Kiln, which entirely consumed the same, together with the Dwelling-house, Barns, Stables, and all theto belonging but by the timely attendance of the Neighbours all the Goods and in Trade were saved.
