Extract from Exeter Flying Post of 15August 1896:

Fatal Boating Accident.

Devonshire Clergyman's Son Drowned.

About half-past twelve on Sunday afternoon a party of men went out in a boat on the Medway, near Waterinbury. Four of the party left the boat for a swim, when one of them, a young man about twenty-six, sank directly he entered the water. His body was found some two hours afterwards, and a doctor attributed death to heart disease. The deceased was a clerk at a bank at Gravesend. His father is a clergyman in Devonshire.
