THE SCHOOLS.

REPORT of H.M. INSPECTOR :—

Boys' School:—" There have been several changes in the School staff during the year. The upper class is in a satisfactory condition, but there is much weakness in the lower part of the School.

Girls' School :—" The tone appears to be excellent. The Girls on the whole have made very fair progress, and their Needlework is good, but they are not as intelligent as they should be."

REPORT or DIOCESAN INSPECTOR:—

Boys' School:—" The lower division has had many changes of teachers lately, so that some allowance must be made for otherwise rather poor work. The New Testament subject is good, and in this fair intelligence and interest is shown. The great weakness comes in knowledge of the meaning of the Catechism.

"The Senior Boys form a good and intelligent group. They have been well taught, showing great interest in their work and answering very well. Their knowledge of the Catechism is particularly strong."

Girls' School:—-"I am greatly pleased with the Girls in all three divisions. They have been carefully instructed, and are intelligent and well behaved.

" In the two lower groups it will be possible to make the lessons, especially those bearing on the Commandments, even yet more practicable.

" The Seniors were severely tested on all parts of their syllabus. The thoroughness of their work is unquestionable, and the highest praise is due to their teacher."

Infants :—(Closed by reason of epidemic.)
