The Wateringbury Parish magazine for September 1902:

An 'old resident in Wateringbury has passed away in the person of Miss Paterson. who died in her 85th year after a few months' illness, and was buried in the Cemetery on the 30th ult. The service was  said by Canon Owen (nephew), the lesson being  read by the Vicar, and the Choir singing the hymn " Rock of Ages."    Many past and  present  inhabitants attended the funeral,  and among the mourners were Mrs.  Bingham  Stevens and Miss Hannah Bartlett (nieces),  the Rev. H. C. Bartlett, the Rev Henry Bingham Stevens (son of the Rev. Henry Stevens, former Vicar of Wateringbury, J. Board, Esq (cousin), and Dr. Walter Fry. Miss  Paterson  was  sister-in-law  to the Rev. Henry Stevens, whose memory still lingers lovingly among the older generation of parishioners.  We believe that ‘The Beck,' Miss Paterson's pretty little residence, passes into the possession of Mrs. H. Bingham Stevens.

A 'Mrs' Paterson was described as the 'yearly tenant' of The Beck back in 1876 at a rent of £85 p.a. when the house (lot 5) was sold as part of the auction of the Wateringbury Place estate by Debenham, Tewson and Farmer.

She was the second highest contributor in the village to the Church Rooms when they were built.
