WATERINGBURY.

THE FAILURE OF THE CHERRY CROP.

—At Messrs Lambert and Symes' annual fruit sale, arranged for Friday last at Horsmonden, no sales were effected owing the failure the cherry crop.

SOFT FRUIT SALE.-

On Wednesday last the annual sale by Messrs. Langridge and Freeman took place at the King's Head Hotel, at which there was a large attendance, and the bidding was of a spirited character for orchards containing fruit. The following sales were effected: 7 1/2 acres of cherries for Mr. Geo. Phillips, The Rocks, East Mailing, £l50, Mr. H. Waters, and £34 for 2 1/2 acres in the young orchard; 27 acres of cherries at Wateringbury —At Messrs Lambert and Symes' annual Waters; 81 acres of cherries at Pyzan Horsmonden, no sales were effected owing the failure the cherry crop. Manwaring, £l0, by Mr. Gasson; three acres of cherries at Brook Farm, East Peckham, for Messrs. Reader Bros, £60, by Mr. Seamark; eight acres cherries at Pike Fish Farm, £50. Mr. Thompsett; three acres cherries at Bullen Place, East Peckham, £3O. by Mrs. Ussher; 10 acres for Mr. Roberts, Snodland, £l4 by Mr. Charlton; 7 1/2 acres of !os., Mr. Seamark. Among the lots Mr. J. Coveney, by Mr. Charlton; 15 acres of cherries for Messrs. Smith Bros., Congelow, Yalding, £40, by Mr. Seamark; seven acres cherries for Mr. O. B. Mercer, Heath Farm, East Malling, £2, by Mr. Costen. Good prices were also obtained Mr. F. Wells, at Grange Farm., Hadlow; about 17 acres and 20 3/4 acres at Stoneham, Yalding. for Messrs. Reader Bros., £60 and £78 respectively, Mr.Tapefield; five acres on Chapple Farm, Collier Street,Marden, for Mrs. F. Joy, £28, by Mr. Pring; for Mr. Hale, Ploggs Hall, Capel, two acres cherries and damsons, £4 10s.,by Mr. Seamark. Among the lots which did not meet with a sale or bidding were 18 acres cherries for Messrs. Leney Ltd. at Upper and Lower Redhill Orchards, Wateringbury; 13 acres ditto at Old School and Wheelwright's Orchards and Stone's Platts; 11 acres of black currents, Mr. F. Wells, at Grange Farm, Hadlow; 12 acres cherries, Mr J. Taylor, Golden Green, Hadlow; eight acres of cherries. Messrs. E. and T. Mercer, Fish Hall Farm, Hadlow; seven acres cherries. Mr. W Levett at Crowhurst Farm, East Peckham; 6 1/2 acres cherries, Mr. F Bowerman, at Court Lodge Farm, Teston 18 acres of mowing grass for, about 16 acres adjoining Sheepwash Meadow were passed, there being no bidding: 18 acres of mowing grass, including was sold at £59; another lot of 18 acres at Pitts Wood Farm, Hadlow, for Mr. E. Jones, was withdrawn at £45..

FRUIT SALE.—Some remarkable prices (considering the season) were realised by Messrs. Langridge and Freeman at their sale of growing crops of fruit at the King's Head, Wateringbury, on Wednesday. Among the prices were the following-

4 1/2 acres of apples and nuts, £102

9 1/2 acres apples, £100;

seven acres of apples, pears, plums and nuts, £350;

nine acres of apples and nuts,£530;

four acres apples, pears, plums and damsons, £280;

four acres ditto, £265;

12 acres of apples, £385;

four acres of apples and pears, £350;

12 acres of apples £28O, etc.
