WATERINGBURY

AUTUMN SHOW—The annual show of the Cottage Gardeners’ Society took place at the Village Hall on Thursday last, when with few exceptions the whole of the produce was after­wards sent to the Navy, and the admission fees go to the Red Cross Fund. The solid silver trophy given by the Vegetables Products Committee for naval supply was awarded to Mr. G. Rogers, gardener to Mr. T. Brocklebank, of Wateringbury Place, for a fine collection of vegetables. The non-competitive classes in­cluded over three dozen dishes of apples and pears, of which a superb group of 18 dishes came from Wateringbury Place, and the re­mainder from Mrs. Flint and Miss Fremlin (gardener, Mr. Stow), and Mr. W .Jude (gar­dener, Mr. W . Burt). Mrs. Levitt, Canon Bingham Stevens, Mrs. Leney (Orpines), Mr. J . R. Sowray, Mr. E. Goodwin, Mrs. Hadlow and Mr. T. Bowles all contributed collections of vegetables.

The judges were Messrs. G. Woodward (Barham Court), J . Neame, T. Purcy ,J. Stow, and G. Rogers.
