Extract from Maidstone Telegraph 29 December 1866. The cattle show referred to where the machinery was exhibited was the annual Kent and Maidstone Cattle show held in the College Yard, Maidstone against a background of restrictions from the cattle plague, so there were no cattle at a cattle show! Nevertheless, F. Leney & Son won 2nd prizes for his boars and breeding sows; and 1st prizes for his Long Mangold Wuzels and his Globe Mangold Wurzels.

Patent Case Machine.—At the above cattle show, on Thursday week, amongst the implement department a great novelty was exhibited by Mr J. B. Jude, Kent Brewery, Wateringbury, which consisted of a patent cask cleaning machine. The want of quick and effectual means of cleaning casks has long been felt by those engaged in the brewery department,in consequence of which Mr Jude has devoted considerable time and attention to it, which has resulted in the patent above referred to, and which is apparently most simple an efficacious. The machines have been in daily use at Mr Jude's brewery with satisfactory results. Persons desirous of inspecting the same can do by application to Mr Jude, at his brewery, at Wateringbury, when every information respecting the patent will be afforded them.
