In the Church vestry is held a scrap book with newspaper cuttings marked "in Memory of Edgar Clarke-Smith". Some cuttings have a date handwritten beside them. Many are probably from the South Eastern Gazette. As at February 2018 the South Eastern Gazette is not available on the British Newspaper Archive other than for the period 1827 to 1865. The following extracts are believed to be from the 1896/97 period.
