Wateringbury Estate for sale (1876)

Extract from the Tamworth Herald of 17th June 1876:

The Kentish domain, known as " the Wateringbury Estate," with mansion, park, and numerous farms, were put up for sale on Monday, and the bidding rose from £200,000 to £250,000, at which the property was withdrawn and offered in separate lots. The first comprised tbe mansion and over 1000 acres of land, with farms, plantations, &c., of an estimated annual value of £4,500. The bidding advanced to £145,000 at which figure the lot was withdrawn. A number of other lots were disposed of for sums amounting in all to nearly £40,000.
