Dear Sir,

The river here is drawn down as low as it is possible to get it. I have seen your man at Teston who regulates the water, & he informs me , it is by request from Yalding. As I mentioned in my letter before & the foreman at Yalding agreed, owing to the slope of the bed of the river the water could be over 3ft. higher here without it rising at all at Yalding. You can understand that I am at a great disadvantage when the pen is only half full, but as it is now it is impossible for a boat to go out at all. Trusting you will be able to remedy this for me early, without causing any inconvenience

I remain

Yours truly,

W. Avery
