WATERINGBURY AND NETTLESTEAD DISTRICT NURSING ASSOCIATION.

The Annual Meeting of the Wateringbury and Nettlestead District Nursing Association was held on Wednesday, October 18th, at the Church Rooms, the Vicar of Wateringbury in the chair, when the following report was presented and adopted, the officers and Committee re-elected, and certain other names brought forward for election: —

"It is satisfactory, in presenting the Second Annual Report, to feel that it covers a whole year's work. Owing to the difficulty in securing a nurse, last year's report dealt with only ten months, We are now in a position to know exactly the annual cost of the maintenance of a Queen's Nurse.

"During the year Nurse has attended 57 cases entailing 1134 visits. In addition to this she has paid over 700 visits in order to get to know the people in the district. She has also addressed the Mothers' Meeting in Wateringbury, and given a series of talks to the mothers at Mereworth.

"It is gratifying to find that the number of benefit members has increased from 61 to 91 and the Committee look forward with confidence to enrolling many more members during the coming year.

" The following is the Report received from the Queen Victoria's Jubilee Institute for Nurses as regards the Inspection of the District by Miss Wimberley, on December 17th, 1910 : —

" ' Nurse Keat's work is quite satisfactory and her books and equipment were in good order. The Committee are to be congratulated that the work has started so well.'

" The Committee take this opportunity of expressing their satisfaction with the good work Nurse has done during the past year, and note with pleasure her increasing usefulness.

" The Committee acceded to a request from the Kent County Nursing Association that Nurse should be allowed to co-operate with the Kent Education Committee in seeing that the treatment recommended by the Medical Inspectors in the schools was carried out in the homes.

" As regards Finance, the Committee regret that the balance should again be on the wrong side : it will be seen that the deficit is £10 18s. 1d.

"It is, however, satisfactory to note that the payments of Benefit Members are considerably more than last year, and the Committee warmly thank those members of Class A who have voluntarily given donations over and above their 2/- subscriptions.

" They earnestly trust that many more may join the Association, if not for their own sake, for the sake of others, for unless the subscriptions can be increased it will be difficult to carry on the scheme. The Nurse is intended primarily for the benefit members, and it is only right that a much larger proportion of the funds should be raised by them.

"After a second year's experience the Committee are confirmed in their conviction of the great value of having the services of a trained nurse in the district.

" The following gifts are gratefully acknowledged : — Air cushion from Viscountess Falmouth, bed jacket and shawls from Mrs. Hole, linen from Mrs. Smith, the Bakery.

" The Hon. Treasurer begs to remind members that all subscriptions fall due on October 1st, 1911

BALANCE SHEET, OCTOBER 1st, 1910, to SEPTEMBER 30th, 1911.
