Brewer's Hall Farm (1913)

Extract from Kent & Sussex Courier - Friday 19 September 1913. This indicates that the Blests were probably farming Brewer's Hall Farm pre-WW1.

INQUESTS ON HOP-PICKERS.

The sad deaths of two hop-pickers were investigated by Mr. T. Bass, the District Coroner, on Wednesday. The first inquest was held at Brewers Hall Farm, Mereworth, Sophia Tunnicliffe, aged 60, a widow, 95, Oakley-street, London. From the evidence it appeared that deceased was found dead in a hopping hut at Brewers Hall Farm on Monday morning by Mrs. F. Blest.—Dr. S. Saunders, who made post-mortem examination of the body, said that death was due to heart failure, caused bronchitis and inflammation of the lungs.

The Jury returned verdict "Death from Natural Causes.
