Affray at Duke's Head (1859)

Extract from Maidstone Telegraph 1st October 1859. Wray, Wilson and Reagan were not resident in Wateringbury at time of 1851 census.

At the Magistrates Clerks' Office on Thursday last, Patrick Wray was placed at the bar (before T. W. Stratford and J. Savage, Esqrs.,) charged with stealing one flannel jacket, the property of Thomas Wilson, at Wateringbury, while in a state of intoxication. The case not being clearly proved, the prisoner was fined 5s. for being drunk.—The fine was paid. John Regan was also charged with attempting to rescue the former prisoner (Wray), with violence. He was ordered to pay 13s. 6d., also 1s. for breaking two pintpots, and spoiling one quart of beer, the property of the landlord of the Duke's Head, Wateringbury.—The money was paid.
