BOY SCOUTS.—It is with great regret that we announce that Mr. Smith is resigning his position as Scoutmaster of the 1st troop of Wateringbury Scouts. The troop was his own creation, and the keenness and energy which he threw into the work, and which, perhaps, contributed to his break-down in health, was quickly caught by the boys, turning them into a troop of marked efficiency. While we congratulate Mr. Smith on the recovery, in a measure, of his health, we realize that this restriction of some of his old activities is incumbent upon him—the scout-mastership is evidently one of those things he must give up. Mr. Smith has expressed an opinion that one troop is better than two in the village. Probably he is right, and we are fortunate in having Mr. A. A. Reader as Scoutmaster of what has been known as the 2nd troop. Arrangements will be made, presumably, whereby there will in future be one troop, known as the Wateringbury Troop. Mr. Smith, in writing a few notes on the subject, concludes by saying that though he is resigning he will still take a lively interest in all Boy Scouts and their work.
