Extract from Dover Express 8th October 1948

Married at St. Andrew's Church, Buckland, on October sth, 1898, Canon and Mrs. Grevile M. Livett, of Stoneleigh, Old Dover Road, Canterbury, on Tuesday celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Livett was Miss Florence M. Leney, sister of Mr. A. C. Leney, who was present at Tuesday's family gathering. The Canon, in his 90th year, has been in ill-health since, in 1921, he had to resign the living of Wateringbury, which he had held for 27 years. Successively Minor Canon and Precentor, Hon. Canon and Canon Emeritus of Rochester Cathedral, he was a keen member of the Kent Archaeological Society and Editor of Archaeologia Cantiana. Now confined to his room, he is devotedly cared for by his 75-year old wife. The couple have had five daughters, of whom four survive, and there are seven grandchildren. During the war, the couple were in a Canterbury garage when it was hit by an oil bomb, and Mrs. Livett was badly burned. After that, they were evacuated for four years. On Tuesday they received shoals of congratulatory telegrams and messages, and a profusion of flowers.
