Extract from Maidstone telegraph of 22nd June 1867 reporting on Maidstone Petty sessions.

AFFILIATION.

Wm. Davis, engine driver at Mr Jude's, Wateringbury, was summoned for the maintenance of the illegitimate child of Jane Hodge, born in August last year. Mr Goodwin appeared for the defendant. Complainant stated that she had written several letters to defendant, and in return his mother had sent her postage stamps. It was contended that the money was forwarded without the knowledge of defendant. The Bench not believing the plea ordered defendant to pay Is 9d per week for the maintenance of the child, and all costs
