Report on the college career day

Introduction

The purpose of this report is to outline how successful the career day was and to suggest some recommendations for the next similar event.

Recognising apropriate vacancies

The first part of the event consisted of several sessions which provided students with information about how to find a job with a career prospects and, in the same time, a quite well-paid one. I can evaluate the lecturers' work very positively. Not only did they teach the students how to sift vacancies finely but also how to analyse the text of offers in detail.

Applications and interviews

I suppose the second part of the event to be as advatageuous for the participants as the first one. It is known that it is crucial to have not only a piece of advice but also enough practice in writing competent job applications as well as behaving right at interviews. As for the CV workshops, they were very purposive and applicable but there was a lack of practical trainings in interviews.

Suggestions

I would suggest that there should be organized mock interviews for the participants in addition to lectures and presentations next time. In my opinion, it would be beneficial to invite potential employers in order to have their candidate expectations. Besides, I would advise adding a kind of an interactive quest game to the agenda. These changes are likely to make the next career day more attractive and helpful for students in moving up the career ladder.
