When Mr Jones went to a restaurant one day, he left his coat near the door.

There was nothing in the pockets of the coat when he left it, so he was very surprised when he took his coat after his meal and found the pockets full of jewellery!

There was a waiter near the door, so Mr Jones said to him, 'Somebody has made a mistake. He has put some jewellery in my coat. Take it, and when he comes back, give it to him.'

The waiter took it and went away. Suddenly another man came in with a coat just like Mr Jones's.

'I am sorry,' said this man. 'I made a mistake. I took your coat and you have got mine. Please give me my coat and jewellery.'

Mr Jones answered, 'I gave the jewellery to the waiter. He will give it to you.'

Mr Jones called the manager of the restaurant; but the manager said, 'We have no waiters here. We only have waitresses.'

'You gave the jewellery to a thief!' shouted the other man. 'I shall call the police!'

Mr Jones was frightened and paid the man a lot of money for the jewellery.

Вопросы:

1. Why do you think Mr.Jones kept the other coat while he gave the jewellery to a waiter?

The first question is why Mr.Jones kept the other coat while he gave the jewellery to a waiter.

I think Mr. Jones was in a affect state of his mind because he was astoned by the situation.

He just took his coat and he realized that his pocket were full of jewellery which probably cost a lot of money.

If we compared the coat and the jewellery, the jewellery much more expensive.

And Mr.Jones just wanted to get rid of these jewelleries because he didn't want to get responsibility for the jewelleries.

And because of this, he just gave it to the person which he considered as a waiter.

2. Don't you think it was a fraud? Describe the fraud procedure and roles of the participants. Give other examples of similar frauds.

The second question is if I think it was a fraud.

Yes. I think it was a fraud.

The waiter and the man who claimed that that was his coat did together.

Probably, they watched upon Mr Jones.

They knew what kind of coat he weared and they bought the similar coat and put some maybe false jewellereis in the pockets and change Mr Jones' coat with this coat.

When Mr Jones took his coat and find out that the pockets were full of jewelleries, he got in an affect state and gave the jewelleries to the waiter and the waiter went away.

Then the man came to Mr Jones and started shouted that Mr Jones stole his jewelleries.

Mr Jones don't want to be got by police and he paid the man a lot of money.

Similar situation often take place in the streets of Russian cities.

The criminals just put a wallet in the street with some money.

A man or any other person walked along and see the wallet and he or she pick up it and put into his or her pocket.

And when the person gave the wallet to the men they say to him that there were a lot of money in the wallet and they offer the person to gave the money to them and the person has to paid them with his or her money.

When the person gives the wallet back the criminals say that there were a lot of money in the wallet before the person picks it up.

3. Why do you think the man, who took Mr. Jones's coat, started yelling at Mr.Jones? Was it an obligate element of the fraud?

The third question is why the man, who took Mr. Jones's coat, started yelling at Mr.Jones and if it was an obligate element of the fraud.

I think it was an obligate element of the fraud because even simple conversation with a person usually switch the man to the affect state of his or her mind.

And if other man is yelling at you any of us inevitably switch to the affect state.

If person is an affect state of his or her mind, it is the state of no critical reasoning.

If the person is in that state, the fraud will be successful.

Thank you.

The third question is why the man, who had taken Mr. Jones's coat, started to yell at Mr.Jones and if it was an obligate element of the fraud.

I think it was an obligate element of the fraud because even a simple conversation with someone usually put the person a slightly crazy state of mind.

If a man is yelling at you, you can become a little crazy quite easily and lose critical reasoning so the fraud will be successful.
