Would you buy something because it was well-advertised? Why/why not?

As I've mentioned earlier, I believe that in the world today no one can be absolutely independent in making their decisions.

I couldn't live in vacuum and I’m certainly influenced by advertising but I never buy something because it is well-advertised because a good advertisement and well-known product can have some disadvantages that aren't mentioned in the ad.

Usually, if I want to buy a well-advertised item, I will get some information about it from the Internet where I can see all properties of the chosen product, compare it with the others and read opinions about.

This let me realize how good actually the product is.

Do you think there is too much advertising nowadays? Why/why not?

I think that on one hand, yes, there is too much advertising nowadays.

I don't watch television but I know that there is a lot of advertising there.

When I go along a street in Yekaterinburg, I always see outdoor advertising which often fence in buildings, squares and streets’ views.

When I listen to the radio, I always hear advertising there and so on and so forth.

On the other hand advertising is an engine of commerce so either sellers or buyers need it.

So I think that advertising should be less annoying and infantilize.

It should excite curiosity and make people think of the idea of the ad.

It could develop people to be more effective consumers.

Do you think that advertising gives the consumer more or less choice? Why/why not?

I think that advertising gives consumers more choice because if there was no advertising, consumers would have no information about products and services and couldn't choose anything.

Firstly, advertising almost the only method to tell consumers about a new product, service or producer.

Secondly, advertising is a method of competition among producers which makes them improve quality of their goods and develop new products and services as a result consumers have more choice.

Finally, many different advertisements let the consumer compare products and choose the better one.

To conclusion I would like to say that advertising is an engine of commerce and every producer should advertise their goods.

Think of your least favorite advertisement. Why do you dislike it?

Unfortunately, I can’t remember the particular least favorite ad.

Frankly speaking, I dislike the most of ads because of simplistic plot, a lack of hooking ideas and trashy music. Some interesting ads I saw in the Cannes Lions retrospective review last year.
