1. Что есть диф. сема между pain = боль и ache = произносится [eɪk] = боль?
2. Почему в функции существительных pain по умолчанию не сочетается с неопределенным артиклем, в то время как ache, наоборот, требует неопределенный артикль?
3. Как следует перевести на русский язык фразу: to have aches and pains all over?

1. pain - генерализированная/не-дифференцированная боль, гипероним
ache - дифференцированный вид боли: продолжительная/хроническая/тупая боль в конкретной части тела. Гипоним
интересно, что to ache - чувствовать боль, а to pain/hurt - причинять боль
2. pain - неисчисляемое, не партитивное (a pain = a sort of pain - метонимия, аналогично a tea = a sort/cup of tea)
ache - исчисляемое, партитивное
The pain in his shoulder - причина известна, человек предупрежден - предсказуемое
An ache in his shoulder - причина неизвестна, человека не предупрежден - внезапность/не предсказуемость
The pain in the stomach (аттрибутивно - предупреждаемо) vs. A stomach ache (предикативно - непредсказуемо)
You give me a pain in the back - Переносный смысл, ты - проблема.
You give me much pain in the back - Прямой смысл, изломал всю спину.
to pain - нельзя в Continious, фактуальность низкая
to ache - можно в Continious, фактуальность высокая
