Lent     Lent 5     John 12:20-33, particularly verses 20-21

We would see Jesus (YB No 106) 

“We would see Jesus” was their wish.

I wonder if they knew

That this young rabbi was the one

The priests planned to subdue.

I wonder too at what I see

When I observe his life.

Do I see Jesus loving, kind;

Or one who causes strife?

What passion rouses such a man?

What gives him great delight?

Love, justice and integrity,

All actions kind and right.

I cannot look at Jesus now

And then just pass on by.

His call to follow stirs my soul;

Each day I must reply.
