Spirit sightings (Vol 2 No 15)

 ‘Sightings of the Spirit’ - here -

Some are hidden, some are clear;

‘Sightings of the Spirit’ - there -

Some are common, some quite rare;

When a nation makes a law

For the good of all the poor,

Spends on peace and not on war

‘Sightings’ happen more and more.

‘Sightings of the Spirit’ - now -

Some quite strange; we know not how;

‘Sightings of the Spirit’ - then -

Some surprise but come again;

When some human care can be

Haven for the refugee,

When fierce enemies agree

‘Sightings’ tell of harmony.

‘Sightings’ can be simple deeds;

Comfort to the one who bleeds;

Flowers for the one who grieves;

Tears shed when a loved-one leaves;

Gentle hugs when people meet;

Someone’s helped across the street;

Hope and help to face defeat;

When forgiveness comes complete.

‘Sightings’ tell us of God’s reign;

Jesus’ words were not in vain;

Each event and time and place

Is the venue to embrace

All he taught in Galilee

Of good-will, integrity;

‘Sightings’ tell, with clarity,

Of God’s reign, consistently.
