When we love we give to others freedom they can never earn;
Love unfolds its patient power through persuasion, not through force;
Love responds, is not controlling; God revealed as Love’s true source.
When we love we want well-being for the loved one, every day;
When we love we risk that maybe, many hurts could come our way;
Love announces all its power in a whisper, not a roar;
Love invites, is not coercive; Love revealed as God’s true core.
When we love we give permission, not as one who does not care;
When we love we keep pursuing those whose choices bring despair;
Love imparts its soothing power with acceptance, not with blame;
Love gives praise, is not demeaning; Love revealed as God’s true name.
When we love our hearts are open to whatever life will bring;
When we love, God lives within us, giving us the will to sing;
Love expresses its deep power in its practice, not display;
Love supports and offers comfort; Love revealed as God’s true way.
When we love we are affirming, voicing others’ priceless worth;
When we love we hear the calling to give Love another birth.
Love extends its endless power as with joy we take our part;
Love revealing God’s true nature; Love revealing God’s true heart
